How Much Does a Wyoming Contractor License Bond Cost?

The cost of a Wyoming contractor license bond starts at $100. Nonresident contractors must obtain bonds to legally conduct business within the state, while resident contractors are typically licensed at the city or county level. Your specific bond requirement is determined by your trade and business location.

Some municipalities have varying bond requirements. For example, the bond required for a Town of Jackson contractor license is $10,000, while the City of Gillette contractor license bond is $5,000.

Rather than pay the full bond amount, license applicants can purchase a bond through a Wyoming surety company. The premium amount for a contractor license ranges between 1% and 10% of the bond amount.

The premium amount is determined by the applicant’s business financials and experience, personal assets and credit scores.

The premium rate for applicants with a 700 credit score or higher ranges from 1% to 3%. The rate for applicants with a credit score between 600 to 699 is 3% to 5%. A 5% to 10% premium rate applies to applicants with a credit score below 599.
