How Much Does a Utah Auto Dealer Bond Cost?
The cost of an auto dealer bond in Utah, also known as the Utah Motor Vehicle Dealer Bond, ranges from $750 to $7,500. This is based on the requirement of a $75,000 bond for new and used vehicle auto dealers. For other auto businesses and activities, a $10,000 or $20,000 bond is required.

Auto Dealer License Bond Requirements in Utah
The Utah Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division is responsible for auto dealer licensing and monitoring compliance with bond requirements. The requirement for an auto dealer license in Utah is established by the Motor Vehicle Business Regulation Act.
A dealer license and a $75,000 bond are required to sell, offer for sale, display or exchange new and used vehicles as well as specialty vehicles and large trailers. A $10,000 surety bond is required to sell, offer for sale, display or exchange small trailers, motorcycles and OHVs in Utah.
An auto body shop in Utah needs a $20,000 surety bond to obtain and maintain a license. Licensed crushers are required to have a $10,000 surety bond.
How to Renew & Maintain Your Auto Dealer Bond in Utah
After buying your auto dealer surety bond, it will be valid continuously until it is canceled. However, to maintain the bond and continue meeting the state’s requirement, the premium payment must be paid annually.
