Lottery Bond Requirements in Ohio

The Ohio Revised Code Section 3770.05 establishes lottery sales agent licensing and bond requirements. A lottery sales agent license is required to sell lottery tickets. Sales agents must have a $15,000 surety bond. However, the Ohio Lottery Commission may require a higher amount based on sales.

The obligees for the lottery bond are the State of Ohio and the Ohio Lottery Commission. Total claims cannot exceed the bond’s penal sum. All claims must be presented to the surety company within six months of its termination.

The bond term is one year. To renew your bond and remain in compliance with lottery sales regulations, you must pay the bond premium each year. Each year prior to the bond’s expiry date, we will contact you with instructions for renewing the bond.

How to Get Your Lottery Sales Agent License in Ohio
