How Much Does a Nevada Contractors Board License Bond Cost?

The cost of a Nevada contractor license bond ranges from $100 to $50,000. The specific cost is based on the trade and the location. For example, a contractors board license bond ranges from $1,000 to $500,000. A mechanic of manufactured homes bond is $5,000.

You do not need to pay the full bond amount, however. By purchasing your bond from an authorized Nevada surety company, you can get your bond with a premium payment of 1% to 10% of the required bond amount.

Your specific rate will be determined by your credit scores, liquid and fixed assets, and business experience. Bonds are available for most credit scores.

A contractor bond premium rate will be 1% to 3% for a 700 credit score or higher. A rate of 3% to 5% applies to applicants with a credit score of 600 to 699. For a credit score of 599 or lower, the premium rate is between 5% and 10%.

Contractors Board License Bond Requirements in Nevada

The Nevada State Contractors Board is the authorized licensing authority for all state-mandated contractor requirements. The specific amount of the surety bond required to hold a contractor license varies by trade and can vary in amount from $1,000 to $500,000. When determining the required bond amount, the Board will consider the type of license requested, the monetary limit granted, and the applicant's financial responsibility, experience, and character—both past, present, and future.

The obligee for the contractors board license bond is the State of Nevada. The bond is effective for two years. The contractor must renew the bond to maintain the contractor license. We will contact you when the annual premium is due and provide renewal instructions.
