Surplus Lines Broker Bond Requirements in Georgia
Surplus lines brokers are required to be properly licensed according to Georgia laws, and one of the licensing requirements is a surety bond. The bond requirements for surplus lines brokers in Georgia are established under Georgia Code 33-23-32.
The required bond amount is $50,000, and the obligee is the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire. This bond is continuous and can only be canceled by the surety. The surety company must provide a 30-day written notice of the cancellation.
Because the bond is a condition of holding a surplus lines broker license, it must remain active. To maintain your bond, the premium must be paid annually. We will assist you with this responsibility by providing you with updated payment instructions each year prior to the renewal date.
