Florida Statues Sections 559.926-559.939 mandate the annual registration of sellers of travel. One of the registration requirements is a performance bond. A $25,000 surety bond is required if you do not offer vacation certificates. If you offer vacation certificates, the bond amount is $50,000.

A reduction may be granted according to the following:
 

• A business that has been in operation under the same ownership and control for at least one year, with gross annual sales under $500,000, may request to reduce its security bond to $10,000.
• A business that has been in operation under the same ownership and control for at least one year, with gross annual sales between $500,000 and $1,000,000, may request to reduce its security to $15,000.
• A business that has been in operation under the same ownership and control for at least one year, with gross annual sales between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000, may request to reduce its security to $20,000.
• A newly established business, or a business under new ownership may apply to reduce its security to $10,000. “Newly established” means a business that has operated for less than one year.

The obligee is the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. While you must renew your registration with the state annually, the seller of travel bond is continuous. The bond can be canceled by the obligee by providing a 30-day written notice to the principal and the obligee.

To maintain your surety bond, the bond premium must be paid annually. We support our customers with bond maintenance by providing current payment instructions each year prior to the due date.

Those who promote or sell travel-related services in Florida must register with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The registration period is one year. To register, you must submit the following items:
 

• Registration form
• Surety bond form with a power of attorney
• $300 application fee
• If you offer vacation certifications, a $100 document submission fee
