The Complete Guide to Becoming a Bonded Arizona Contractor
All applicants for a contractor license in the state of Arizona must post a contractor license bond to the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC).
This bond guarantees the licensed contractors will abide by the provisions of Chapter 10, Title 32 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS). It serves as protection to anyone who is required to receive payments by the contractors, as defined in the Chapter.

Who Needs an Arizona Contractor License Bond?
All four types of Arizona contractors, licensed by the ROC need to get bonded. The bond amounts for them vary depending on the volume of work they expect to perform in a year. These are as follows:
- Residential general contractors - $9,000 or $15,000
- Residential specialty contractors - $4,250 or $7,500
- Commercial general contractors - between $5,000 and $100,000
- Commercial specialty contractors - between $2,500 and $50,000

The cost of your bond is a percentage of its total amount. Bond amounts for Arizona contractors vary depending on the type of their license and the contemplate gross volume of work per year.
