Julia Price - the winner of the Lance Surety Scholarship AwardWe are happy to announce that we have selected the winner of the 2015 Lance Surety Bonds $1,500 College Scholarship.

Meet Julia Price, a 1st year Graduate Student and PhD Candidate at the University of California Irvine, where she studies music performance and composition. Julia submitted an inspiring essay on the topic of  “What would be your motivation to start a small business, if you could launch it right now?”

In her essay she not only illustrates the importance of small business as an economic unit, but as a cultural and social one as well. She also proposes her own vision of a small business, called “Books and Bourbon”, which would “fuse a bar, a book store, a small section of a laundry mat, and a study area.”

We would like to thank everyone who participated in last year’s competition. We received close to 500 submissions and our decision was certainly not an easy one. We are about to announce the beginning of the 2016 Lance Surety’s College Scholarship campaign shortly, so stay tuned and check our page regularly for more information.

Once again, join us in congratulating Julia for winning the award. She is going to use the money towards successfully completing her education and hopefully launching a rewarding artistic career. Be sure to stop by her website to enjoy some of her flute performances and support her music endeavors.
