Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI) Bond

What is an OTI Bond?

The Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI) Bond is required for all Ocean Transportation Intermediaries operating in the U.S., which are Non-Vessell Operating Common Carriers (NVOCC) and Ocean Freight Forwarders. This bond requirement goes hand and hand with the ocean freight forwarder license, and is set in place to ensure that rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Maritime Commission are followed. It also guarantees that all applicable contracts with carriers and shippers are honored by the principal.
